Willem deKooning along with J. Pollock is known as an Action Painter as well as an Abstract Expressionist. This pure painting favors bold, direct, free gestures that are instinctively organized. deKooning often painted abstracted women communicating an impression of being unnerved, even vulnerable. Our subject, 'Pete" is from one of Elisabeth Stones photos of dogs from the Missoula Humane Society. Don't worry, Pete was adopted.
